Social Days

Young Horse Social Days are a great low-pressure first outing for young or green horses. Providing a safe environment for riders to give their horses the exposure to going to new places without the pressure of club/clinic/competition days.

What happens at Young Horse Social Days?

It’s a really low-key event, we start with a group discussion while the horses get a chance to take in the surroundings and settle from their float trip. Then there’s a group groundwork session which gives everyone a chance to become familiar with the arena or chosen workspace and get used to sharing it with other horses.

After a lunch break we split into smaller groups for the second session which an opportunity to get more specific help with something you’d like to work on with your horse, either on the ground or riding. Riding is optional so there’s no pressure to get on if it doesn’t feel right on the day, and unstarted horses are most welcome.

Who are these Days suitable for?

If your horse is young or green, not yet started under saddle, only freshly started under saddle, nervous, or has not had much exposure to busy environments then these days are suitable for you.

Basically, unless your horse is already a seasoned pony club/lesson/competition horse with many outings already under his belt, then we’re happy to have you. Fillies/mares and geldings only though; no colts or stallions for safety reasons.

How do I book?

Booking priority is given to those on my mailing list first, any remaining places will then be made available to the wider public.

Here’s what participants have to say:

What if I don’t want to ride?

No problem, you don’t have to get on if you don’t feel like it’s right. We even have people bring their unbroken horses, and lead them in the arena while the others are riding or spend some time practicing mounting and dismounting. It’s a really supportive atmosphere and I will be in the arena with you to offer tips and advice – it’s not so much of a lesson as a non-structured riding time with ground support available.
